The Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology (IMET) capitalizes on the strengths of the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science, the University of Maryland Baltimore County and the University of Maryland Baltimore to conduct marine and environmental research and create technologies designed to foster the protection and restoration of coastal marine systems and their watersheds.

University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science researchers at IMET (UMCES@IMET) are working in several important areas related to finding new biotech-based solutions to protecting marine biodiversity, ocean health and human heath, marine bioenergy and marine ecosystems.

Collaboration with the University of Cadiz by means of joint projects of investigation.
